Seth in all his glory

A follow-up to yesterday's post offering a hint of what to expect from Seth: the full dial (minus white powers) and a shot of the sculpt.

I like the dial although, at the risk of sounding like a scratched record (look it up youngsters), I prefer to have some sort of move and attack powers - especially on a figure costing more than 100 points. He's a pretty tough guy though, the upswing in his damage halfway through the dial is particularly nice.

The sculpt doesn't do much for me though - he makes me think of an American football player in fancy dress. Which isn't something I really appreciate being made to think of.

Preview figures for all stores

It seems all the stores that have pre-ordered HOT will be getting preview figures. It will be interesting to see if this includes the UK - my gut feeling is no but let's hope NECA surprise us.

here's the message NECA posted on Facebook:

"WizKids-Hey everyone, stores who preordered Marvel HeroClix: Hammer of Thor should be receiving a preview figure in the upcoming weeks as a thank you for the continuing support. Post the pictures of the preview your store got here!"

Dial H for Heimdall

A Heimdall preview figure turned up at a US store and the dial was posted on HCRealms today, so we can now see his dial. It seems the preview figures are being shipped without cards so we don't know what the white power on his movement is - the fantastic damage power is spoiled in the post below this one.

I really like the dial; it's consistent without being overpowered and I love the five clicks of charge in a row. Those Asgardians are shaping up to be a really fun bunch - the only downside is that I can imagine everyone bringing Asgardian theme teams to our game nights. As I said previously, the table's going to look like someone's playing D&D.

Heimdall

This was leaked a while ago in Game Trade Magazine, but I love the sculpt so much I thought he was worth reposting. And the guy sounds like he is going to be amazing to play - my only concern is that all these great Asgardians might mean that a game of Heroclix will start to look like a D&D session. Don't get me wrong, I love me some D&D, but am not sure I want to mix it with Heroclix.

"I know what you really want to see are the new characters in Hammer of Thor. I am here to make you happy with an exclusive look at Heimdall, guardian of Bifrost the Rainbow Bridge. This Asgardian god weighs in at 149 points and has an extraordinary Special Power: Sight to the Nine Worlds. Characters using Charge, Running Shot, or Hypersonic Speed deal no damage to Heimdall. Heimdall ignores other characters’ Shape Change and Stealth. What’s this mean? It means that Heimdall can smite any enemy, no matter how fast or how sneaky. Heimdall keeps this ability for four 3-damage clicks, so he will be a vigilant bruiser for almost half his dial. At the end of Heimdall’s dial, he does a devastating 4 damage! Heimdall’s defense starts at 18 and never drops below 15, and he has Super Senses on every click. This is not an Asgardian to be trifled with!"

Figure sculpts

This is the master of the sculpt for the Samantha Parrington Valkyrie figure - and very nice it is too. For a look at a bunch of other sculpts by the very talented James Vanschaik see here:

I love the new Daredevil sculpt - but Kurse looks great as well.

New team abilities

The following team abilities were first made public by the ClixCast podcast yesterday. It's not the most polished podcast on the net, but is well worth a listen to - they guys obviously love the game and come up with some very interesting discussions. There's normally a link to the latest episode on the front page of HCRealms and you can also subscribe via iTunes.

Seth - partial dial info

Many of the recent leaked dials have been made available as the new owner of Heroclix, NECA, is sending out preview figures to stores in the US. The following was posted on HCRealms today by a user called theavengerthor.

"Went for our regular Thursday night tourney at Game Knight in Jasper, IN tonight and found a HoT Super Rare figure waiting for me.

Let me preface this by saying tonight turned crazy and I didn't get a chance to write down exact powers/stats or take photos. I will go back tomorrow and try to get specifics. Now for what I remember...

Seth is 120 pts and is figure #051. Somewhere around 8 clicks long dial, maybe 9. Ten range... I think single target. Pretty average movement, starting with Phasing and turning to Plasticity around midway down the dial. Starting attack of 11. Stays 11 for 3 or 4 clicks. Energy Explosion giving way to Psychic Blast. 18 Defense for a few clicks. Willpower turning to Toughness turning to Regen. 3 Damage Prob Control for a few clicks. 2 Damage without powers for a couple. 4 Damage at the back of the dial for 2 or 3 clicks with a White Power."

Personally I had no idea who Seth was (there's a awful lot of names I don't recognise on the Hammer of Thor figure list), but Google once again came to me rescue. He is the Egyptian god of death who has had a few tussles with Thor in the past

Gorilla-man

"Gorilla-man, Gorilla-man, does whatever a gorilla can." Actually, I had no idea what Gorilla-man could do until I Googled him - I have been meaning to reading the Agents of Atlas books he appears in but haven't managed it yet. He's an immortal who is super-strong, agile and has a deep interest in the use of firearms. No picture of the sculpt as yet, but assuming that means he'll be a gorilla packing a bunch of guns I'm pretty sure I'll be making use of him.

As for the dial; you get an awful lot for 61 points - really solid numbers and some very nasty late clicks with three damage and Flurry. I can see myself sticking Pounce and Automatic Regen on him for some furry fun.

Phylla-Vell - lady Quasar

She may have a name that sounds like an indigestion remedy, but Genis-Vell's sister is the sort of gal you wouldn't want to mess with. She is super-strong, can fly and fire power blasts and absorb energy. Oh, and as if the bleached crop didn't give it away, apparently she's a lesbian.

She's a fabulous-looking sculpt, but I'm really not sure about her dial. The numbers are pretty good and the high defence and super senses should help to keep her out of trouble, but the lack of move and attack powers on the first two clicks is a disappointment in a figure that costs 138 points.

Karnilla - Norny but nice

Here's Karnilla, the queen of the Asgardian province of Nornheim who has the serious hots for Balder the Brave. She's a tricky and devious magic-user who has caused Loki and Balder all manner of grief since her first appearance back in 1964.

It looks like a great dial for the points cost. Great attack numbers and Psychic Blast, but she's going to be pretty fragile with no damage reduces - though the Phasing will help her get out of trouble. I'm not a great fan of the sculpt though - dynamic it ain't.
